Can you please tell us about yourself…

I was born in Christchurch and haven’t moved! I am a mum of three children – Jake 22yrs, Ben 17yrs and Lulu 14yrs all are deliciously different characters. I am married to my talented and arty husband and we have a lot of fun creating ‘stuff’ in our free time. I have a passion for photography, especially studio portraits with a painterly flair. I have a wee home studio which I enjoy working in.

Why did you choose to pursue a career as a photographer?

I always wanted to be a painter but I wasn’t talented enough and photography enabled me to create what I wanted but couldn’t in paint form.

What was the biggest challenge when you started out?

Not having the experience and knowledge to fall back on when things changed on the job.

What do you think is your biggest accomplishment?

This year I was a finalist in the Illustrative category amongst some legends so that was pretty special.

What kind of clients make up your client base?

I have an array from dancers through to some commercial work for malls and agencies.

What was the best piece of advice you were given when starting out as a Photographer?

Be creative and find your style.

What are your other passions?

I love animals especially horses and have been riding and breeding horses most of my life. They are my other ‘happy place’.

Do you have a bucket list for 2021?

Yet to be finalised! But definitely extending my creativity in the creative portrait genre.

What 3 words best describe your photography style?

Creative, Painterly, Portraits.

Anything else you would like to add?

I have enjoyed the support of NZIPP and all the opportunities that have come up over the years.
