NZIPP Central Plateau Photo Retreat

November 4, 2017 @ 4:00 am - November 6, 2017 @ 4:00 am

The NZIPP Central Districts are hosting a Central Plateau Photography Retreat and welcomes all members, partners and NZIPP suppliers/sponsors!

This 48 Hours of Photographic Indulgence starts on the afternoon of Friday 3 November going through Sunday 5 November 2017. Registration includes accommodation & all essential meals (breakfasts, lunches & dinners) crafted by all pitching in. The weekend is not a “piss up”, however BYO alcohol (or other drinks) for evening enjoyment. Your only additional costs will be travel to and from the venue and drinks of your choosing.

This is an unstructured event / weekend where attendees can learn, share, try something new and of course socialise. Attendees can share tips / tricks together, with such things as light painting, creating timelapse, astrophotography, on location portrait, lighting etc. – so many options!

The intention is to spend as much time as possible outdoors, with lots of amazing locations nearby; including Tama Lakes, Silica Rapids, Ridge Track, Meads Wall (to see Mordor and Mt Doom), Taranaki Falls, Tawhai Falls, Ruapehu itself and for the eager beavers there’s always a trek up to the South Crater.

We’ll have some trade suppliers / NZIPP sponsors joining us for the weekend retreat and (hopefully) bringing some gear you can experiment with and to assist with the learning and fun.

Plan to arrive at the lodge no later than 6pm, to join in the prep for dinner.

The Accommodation:
Space is limited with a capacity for 25 people. We might be able to squeeze one or two more in, so for any extras keen to register and join us you will need to bring your own air-bed or stretcher. While the lodge has free wifi and cell phone coverage, an off the grid weekend could be life changing!

The weekend event will be a team effort with participants getting stuck in to help prepare meals, clean up, etc. This is always a great time for conversation and banter.

November Weather:
Obviously the weather will have an impact on activities, with conditions in the area very changeable. so be prepared by bringing suitable clothing for all weather conditions.

Temperatures average a high of 16°C to low of 6°C and snow can fall as late as November. Sunrise is just after 6am and sunset just before 8pm in November.

What to bring:
Own sleeping bags (and pillow if you want it). A more specific gear list will be sent after registering.
A small amount of home baking to share.
BYO drinks

Daytripper Option:
If you can’t make the whole 48 hours a Saturday Daytripper option is available. You’ll get lunch & dinner as well as participation all the Saturday activities. Please note, Daytrippers can’t overnight at the lodge (all the beds will be spoken for). If you are considering camping nearby or sleeping on a vehicle, just be aware that the temperature overnight can get very cold!

Partners and Kids:
While we love kids, this weekend’s all about the adults. If you have older children and really can’t leave them at home, get in touch directly.

Tickets:
Tickets purchased are transferrable but are non-refundable.

Get ready for a memorable weekend! Any questions have a chat to Kaye Davis or Rachael Smith.
