Wellington Tonic – Full Day Photography Workshop

NZIPP are pleased to announce our Wellington Tonic event – full day photography workshop and we are so excited to invite you to attend!

What you should bring: Pen and paper or tablet/ phone to take notes, water bottle, your own lunch or money to buy lunch close by. Morning and afternoon tea is provided.
9.30am: Welcome from NZIPP President Catherine Cattanach
9.45am – 10.45am: Finding the Beauty in Light with Sheree Kershaw
Harsh light, full day sun – it’s the things we’re taught to avoid in a photoshoot. But do we really have to avoid it? Sheree doesn’t, she embraces it, looks for it, and uses it to her advantage. In this session Sheree will talk us through some of her favourite photographs exploring the use of harsh light to her advantage. Stop the fear of harsh light by learning to look for the beauty of it and shoot in any lighting condition.

11.00am – 1.00pm: Everyday Advanced Photoshop with Sarah McGregor
Sarah has been a photographer for the past ten years, including a five years as a professional retoucher for photographers in New Zealand and Australia. In this session, we’ll cover the following topics with a 30 minute Q&A photoshop session at the end:
Selective colour correction techniques
Image Processor vs Batch automation
Portrait editing skin adjustment
Double chin fix
Creating your own actions, and which actions Sarah uses and more.

1.30pm – 2.30pm Self Publishing and Food Photography with Joanna Piatek
Joanna is a photographer and a journalist with the ability to tell a visual story. Her recent book Kapiti – A Portrait through Food is a photographic journey from Paekakariki to Otaki in Kāpiti, New Zealand, where we visit local foodies who tell their story and share a recipe.
In this session, Joanna will talk about powerful and engaging story telling through food photography, the process of self publishing and creating and building a profitable business brand whilst connecting kiwi communities.
2.30pm – 3.15pm – Pricing with Sarah McGregor
Are you working as a photographer but you aren’t quite sure how to work out your pricing? Are you taking a stab in the dark and hoping for the best? Pricing for photography is more than just a guessing game. Understanding how to charge for your work is vital to running any successful business. We’ll help you to understand YOUR numbers and what you could be charging for your work.
3.15pm – 3.30pm Afternoon Tea
3.30pm – 4.30pm Creative Process and Composite Imagery with Donna-Marie Stark
Donna-Marie’s creativity hasn’t waned in her 39 years as a professional photographer. Using various techniques she continues to produce outstanding award-winning work. In this session, Donna-Marie will talk through three of her favourite artworks from concept to creation.
