Photo Connect – Free Photography Education for Everyone
Whether you’re just starting out in photography or have been shooting for years, Photo Connect is the perfect opportunity to learn something new.
Running alongside the Iris Awards, Photo Connect features an incredible lineup of professional photographers generously volunteering their time to share their knowledge. From camera basics and portrait lighting to event content, wildlife, pets, Photoshop and creating award-winning images, there’s something for everyone.
Best of all, it’s completely free to attend—you simply need to register for your sessions.

Thursday Night at Space 25 – The Fun Continues
Think judging finishes and everyone heads home? Not at all!
On Thursday 6 August, once the final image has been judged, we move across to Space 25 for an evening of celebration.
Happy Hour(s)
From the end of judging until 6.00pm, join us to relax after three days of judging. It’s the perfect chance to catch up with friends, meet new people, enjoy a drink, and soak up the atmosphere before the evening’s celebrations begin.
NZIPP Print Auction
From 6.00pm, our fantastic auctioneer Johl Dunn takes the stage for the annual NZIPP Print Auction.
Some truly outstanding photographs from photographers across Australasia have been generously donated and professionally printed for the auction. Whether you’re looking to add an incredible piece of photographic art to your home or simply want to enjoy the excitement of the bidding, this is always a highlight of the week.
Iris Awards Wrap Party
Straight after the auction, we celebrate the conclusion of the Iris Awards judging with the Wrap Party.
This is where we announce the category finalists and reveal the finalists for the coveted Photographer of the Year awards. The atmosphere is always electric, and it’s a fantastic way to celebrate an amazing few days of judging.
The best part? You don’t need a ticket for any of these Thursday events. Just come along to Space 25 and join in.

After a full day of learning, it’s time to have some fun.
If you’ve attended in previous years, you may remember our quiz night. This year we’re changing things up with Jingo—a combination of music and bingo!
Everyone receives four bingo cards, the music starts playing, and the fun begins. Expect plenty of laughs, a few prizes, and a great night catching up with fellow photographers.
